Darcy Island

So last weekend this paddle got morphed into a Discovery which was lovely, but it's been too long since I've been to Darcy and I'd like to change that.

We'll meet Sunday morning at 10am at the government dock in Cordova Channel. Paulo told me about an easier place to put in very close to there so maybe we'll meet at the government dock and then convoy over to a close by beach.
We'll paddle to the south end of James Island and then head SE straight to Little Darcy Island. We can stop and have lunch on the island.

This paddle will be approximately 10 knots (a little under 20km) round trip. It has a crossing that is just under 3 knots. Every one on this paddle should have practiced a wet-exit and re-entry.

PS Here are directions to get to the dock
-Head north on Pat Bay hwy
-Right on Mt. Newton Cross Rd.
-Left on Lochside Dr.
-Right on James Island Rd.
-Drive to the end of James Island Rd. and you will come to the dock.

Hi Ian, I can't make it Tommorow. I have some work stuff I have to get caught up with. If any midweek paddles come up I am interested in !

Too bad you couldn't make it D'Arcy, if I don't have a rehearsal Wednesday evening, I'll likely go for a quickie rolling/skills session in Caddie bay. I've got a Mon-Fri work schedule so I never really have time a bigger paddle during the week.

    Hi Ian,
For info, another popular place to put in for Darcy is Island View Beach (at the end of Island View Road), which is just opposite Darcy. As is is on Sunday, you have weak currents with you both ways in and out of Cordova channel (with the wrong currents, that would be a pain). I'll see what my weekend shapes up like and see if I can join you.

      Hey Colin,
Yes, I know of that spot - I think SISKA is putting in there for an upcoming Darcy paddle. I like poking around James island, but you're right in that Island view would be a good way to avoid unwanted current.
