Character Development Tricks

What makes a character tick? What makes a villain so delightful to hate? How does one effectively write an accent? In this session, we'll cover some questions and prompts for you to ask your characters. Even the most mysterious character has a history, and it is that unseen backdrop which gives them colour and life. Whether building your cast from the ground up, trying to accurately put onto paper the movie in your head, or trouble-shooting a character who has fallen flat, these Tricks aim to help you flesh out your characters so that they become real people instead of simply names on a page.

(Note for newcomers: We actually meet in the Atrium, next door, but access is through the coffee shop. If the coffee shop is closed then there is a security guard at the Atrium's Blanshard St entrance who will usually let you in.)

Astra was well prepared, articulate about the topic and engaging in delivery - her enjoyment about writing is present and a companion to her thoughts and comments

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
