Easter Indulgence

  • Apr 9, 2012 · 7:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

There seemed to be some interest in gathering on Easter Monday despite the festive or to spite the sacred, or perhaps just to maintain our Monday momentum. Location for now is TBA, for all coffee shops far and wide are closing at six or five. Another option is to move our meeting time to 1 p.m., but we shall see what we all decide. What we do is likewise unfixed and unmeditated, but it will somehow involve writing and words and ideas. It might be an initial follow-up to the Group Write Project.

Sorry, I posted my comment under my girlfriend Noel's account (she didn't close hers!). Jim.

I had a great time; some stimulating discussion and nice people. Thanks for hosting Kristen!

Really great group of people. Learned a lot about Vampire books, the apparent need for more of them and other assorted stuff. Felt very welcomed!

Interesting, illuminating, inspiring and intelligent converse about all things of interest to an author. Finding an audience, current market trends, motivations and memories that we all take from books... these things and a hundred more topics flitted about the room like idea fairies stabbing the conversation with sugar-coated swords. A delight to be a part of!

My car and I are downtownish and I am quite willing to go a short ways beyond to provide transport. Afterall, I was ready to meetup at 6:30 so have an hour to kill Monday eve.

Caitlin and I would like to inquire into a possible carpooling situation. We're both willing to meet at a specific (if reasonably close to Downtown) spot to make things smoother. If at all possible...

I've made the time 7:30 so I can get my daughter into bed first.

So, who needs transport? And from/to where?

There's not a lot of parking - I have a long driveway, but only half of it is mine - the other half belongs to my neighbor. Everyone can cram in behind my car.

That's a lovely offer Kristen! At the moment I'm dependent on buses. Is your house by any major bus lines?

I do have a fairly small house, but I could fit 10 comfortably, I think. And drinks and sweets are always welcome! I live in Esquimalt.
And I have never committed a murder...

    with an axe.

If Kristen is happy to play hostess, and her house is not inaccessible to some (we can carpool as required), and she is not an axe murderer, then I think we have found our location for our Easter Indulgence. Would that require that we limit the numbers and that we bring drinks and sweets?

If we do a pub in the afternoon (again, sorry Mikayla) it woulnd't be too loud.
Or, we could do it at my house then I wouldn't have to get a sitter (which I am having trouble finding).

I'm willing and able to meet at 1pm. I suspect that Habit would be quieter than the Bay Centre.

I was checking out "The Well" online as a possibility but they already have an afternoon event booked. So that's a no-go. (Also I was a little put off by some of the negative reviews.)

And while I like the idea of writing will sipping a pint (sorry Mikayla), most of the pubs I know are quite noisy.

A 1pm start could mean the Habit, Bay Centre food court, or can anyone come up with anything else?
