Monday Night Long Form Critique Group is here in 2 days!!
The more savvy of you will note this note is mostly a copy of the first one...I am tired of almost finishing a letter and then it deleting it on me right at the end!
So that you know we have 3 pieces submitted...I would love to see some synopsis up over the rest of the weekend so we can have some hints on what your idea are!
We also have 5 people coming...that is great but there is also room for more!!
FYI: This group is open to discussion and critique on all long form pieces of work. This includes scripts, graphics, the combination of the two, epic poetry (Chaucer eat your heart out!!), graphic novels, and novels. We are asking that we max out the pieces at 10000 words so that the readers have time to read and critique each members.
NOTE: For this first meeting we are requesting synopsis of your ideas...you are welcome to submit a chapter and we will do some general critiques...but we would like to have some time to figure out where this group is going to go and what format we will use. Some suggestions that have been made include:
Chapter by Chapter
Line by Line
and combinations of these.
Personally I am working on a novel and will be submitting a chapter a month but I would also like to work with someone in graphics because i have some picture ideas to go with it. So while we have called this a 'Novel' critique group we are open to how this will look.
Therefore we are encouraging as many members as possible to come out and explore your options.
The first half of the meeting will be dedicated to what the meetings will be (shorter time dedicated to that task the better). The second half will be presenting some synopsis ideas or first chapters and getting people's inputs.
I do not know what the best time for this length of critique is needed. Perhaps a week once we get started but for this week we are asking submissions to be in by Friday the 21st at midnight.
Remember you don't have to have anything ready to submit...just jot down a few ideas and we can go from there.
As to the technical please RSVP and I will be updating you as the week progresses!!
Have a great day,
The Dragon Lady, Melanie
