Afternoon Tea At The Empress

Last year, during the Be A Tourist in Your Own Hometown event, ticketholders were eligible to enjoy afternoon tea at the empress for 50%. I'm hoping a similar voucher will be included in the 2014 Be A Tourist in Your Own Hometown ticket book.

There is no need to RSVP for this event until much closer to March. I simply wanted to set aside the date and time.

It was fun! I enjoyed meeting the ladies at my table and sharing the enjoyment of the good food and of course, tea! I would do this again.

I have called to confirm our reservation for 12 (Azalea + guest, Renate, Shelley, Marisa, Val + guest, Mary Anne + guest, Kathy, and myself + guest). The Empress mentioned that they may have to split our group into two or three tables as they can not sit more than 9 people at a table. Lets try to meet in the lobby right near the tea shop a few minutes before noon so we can be seated as a group at noon. Please bring your vouchers with you.

I will be contacting the Empress Sat morning to set our final reservation for the March 1st tea at the Empress. This will be a wonderful opportunity to experience this grand tea at a discounted price (for those who bring Be A Tourist in Your Own Hometown vouchers). Please take a moment today to update your RSVP on the events page, if need be, to reflect whether or not you are able to join us on March 1st. The current reservation has been booked for 11 people and I am not sure if we will have very much flexibility for growth (as it is a very popular event and may already be fully booked) .

Is it too late to RSVP to this event? I'm a new member and would really like to come out and meet everyone. Plus tea at Empress is amazing!

Tina, I had to withdraw from my spot so you can take mine if there isn't a wait list. Just let Sherra know.

Hello Tina, I will call the Empress on Sat morning to confirm we can add an extra seat to our original reservation. The original reservation was for 11 seats and the events page is now showing 12 RSVPs.

I picked up my booklet for "Be a Tourist in your home town" at the Tourist Information bldg downtown, which we will need to show the 1/2 price vouher I assume, Sherra? Looking forward to this!

    February 20, 2014

    • Sherra

Hi Kathy. I have not picked up my booklet yet but understand that within the booklet you will find a voucher for the 1/2 price tea. If you bring the voucher with you when you come to tea you will get the 1/2 off rate - those of us who do not bring vouchers with us will pay full price for tea.

This is one of those things on my 'bucket list' - looking forward to this!

I have made a reservation for 11 people to attend the noon sitting of the March 1st afternoon tea. We will be sitting at two table groupings (as they do not have a single table large enough to accommodate) but the tables will be near one another. The reservation for 11 people includes Donna, Cher, Sandra, Renate, Val MB + 1 guest, Mary Anne Foote + 1 guest, Kathy W, Sherra + 1 guest.

The reservation has been made under "Sherra Hamer" (I have also asked that they note "All Things Tea" in the reservation book in case new members forget my name).

Additional group members can RSVP - I will be able to increase our reservations as long as the venue still has seats available (I'm not sure when this event will sell out).

Sherra, I added a note here the other day from my IPhone and it appears it was sent to me only. Since I have already signed up for Tea at the Empress, and you have reserved our seating for us, it isn't necessary that I phone them personally to confirm my spot is it? Thanks. Happy New Year!!

    • Sherra

Hi Donna - no need to phone the Empress. I made a preliminary reservation a while back and will be taking some time this weekend to review this events page and adjust the reservation as required. I'll be sure to provide a list of names and guests that are included in the reservation I make this weekend so that everyone is clear as to who has a seat and who needs to be added to future reservation updates.

I've just called the empress to make a preliminary reservation (now that we know that they are offering the 50% voucher within the be a tourist booklet).

I have reserved 7 seats for afternoon tea at noon on Saturday March 1st.

If anyone else would like to join us please let me know so that I may increase the reservation.

Please ensure you purchase the be a toursit booklet in advance as you must bring the voucher with you to receive the 50% discount.

I'm interested in doing a few other be a tourist activities that weekend. I LOVE adrena LINE zipline tours and plans to go ziplining (50% with voucher) on Sunday March 2. Would anyone like to join me?

This reservation is fairly flexible (as far as cancellations go) until mid February so do not feel as though you are locked in if you were one of the 6 who made an early RSVP.

2014 Be A Tourist tickets are now available for pre-purchase and.....drum roll please....the 2014 ticket book contains a voucher for 50% of afternoon tea at the Empress. Hooorrrayyy !!! Details regarding pre-purchases and ticket book contents can be found by clicking the coloured bands (there are a few of them) that read “See them all”. http://www.attractionsvictoria.com/bat/

FYI - For those of you interested in attending afternoon tea at Butchart Gardens - the 2014 Be a Tourist book does include a voucher for free entry into the Gardens (and I think the Gardens offered a discount on their tea service that weekend if you printed a coupon from their website).

The date and time above work well for me (as I work during the week). I expect the empress will book up fast (they did last year - this is such a good deal). I'll call to make a preliminary reservation.
