Now that daylight savings have kicked in, how about a little activity? A few of you have suggested bowling, so let's do the famous Brick Lane where you can the chance for some exploring afterwards.
The meeting point is outside Aldgate East underground station on street level on the corner of Commercial Street and Whitechapel High Street.
The Viet part of the meet is the new-ish Vietnamese food outlet named "Miss Chu". It is her only store in the UK at the moment, having been successful in Australia, and has some very nice reviews, which is why its been flagged as a must try :) Incidentally, it is the only Vietnamese establishment in the area except for the London "Pho" chain in Spitalfields.
Warning: Don't be expecting a sit down restaurant, it is not a big place as it is marketed as a canteen with emphasis on spring rolls, banh mi and dumplings. Think of this meet as a visit to a market, or a festival. The RSVP limit is not just for bowling but logistics of this situation. If the weather is fair, the only place we can seat is outside where there are just 2 small wooden tables and chairs, first come, first serve. If the weather is great, we can buy takeaway and head to the park across the street.
Afterwards, All Star Lanes is just up Brick Lane. We're going for off peak bowling before 5pm for £6.95 per person including show hire.
And after we have bowled to out hearts content, Brick Lane and its markets are up for exploration. With vintage stores, clothes markets and food to inspire that traveller's curiosity, it is an iconic part of London. It also connects to Spitalfields that has this interesting vintage camera store with those old polaroids if you're "young" enough to remember.
You'll get my contact details the day before hence the RSVP deadline.
Contingency: If it rains, we will meet at the bowling alley where we can eat and although it's not Vietnamese, it's dry. Consequently, having visited Miss Chu and surrounds, we would have to leave it for another time as it's not possible as a group in terrible weather.
