I installed the MySQL cluster and installed it successfully. I am not able to create users or groups however. I think I may be inputting the command line incorrectly. I used: sudo niutil -create / /users/mysql. I went ahead and was able to start and stop the server. Is there something I am not doing right when trying to create users?

Aziz - What user does the server run as? What operating system are you using? What type of installation did you use? If you used a packaged installation, the package creates the users you need for you.

It *sounds* like if you're able to start and stop the server you should be OK. But it's hard to say without knowing you can login to MySQL.

I'm on Win 7 and installed XAMPP. When I open a browser and try to navigate to http://localhost... I always end up going to http://localhost/xamp... (the XAMPP for Windows Welcome page). Is this supposed to be happening? Navigating to http://localhost/phpi... works fine.

As mentioned in the first post in this thread, you do not need Perl, Apache or PHP. So you don't actually need to be able to go to http://localhost.... The answer to your question is "it's probably in .htaccess" or some auto-forwarding thing the XAMPP package installs, but the real answer is "for this class, it doesn't matter, we're only doing pure MySQL stuff.

Thanks Sherri,

I have committed homework 2

I am not seeing any further homeworks through github via the url. Is it fair for me to assume that all homeworks moving forward will have to accessed via a direct repo connection via mysql.

I faced troubles making that connection at first and was hoping I could simply use the webportal instead. If required I attempted to make that connection to github again.

The web portal is used for the initial fork and to submit the homework (doing a "pull request"). The rest is on your computer, getting the files to the computer ("git pull") and editing them, and then pushing them to your fork ("git push").

Hope that helps! There is homework all the way up to week 7 right now, so doing a "git pull" on your system should work.
