We will be submitting the homework via GitHub. The reason for this is to have a centralized place for homework, as well as teaching folks how to use a revision control system and how to interact specifically with GitHub.

Reading:
Learn about git at http://git-scm.com/bo... (You only need to read this page)

To do:
- Create a github account at www.github.com
- Install and configure git on your local machine as per https://help.github.c...
- Fork the MySQL Marinate repo as per https://help.github.c...
The URL for the MySQL Marinate repo is https://github.com/Sh...

- To demonstrate that you can submit homework, open and modify the 01Intro/homework.txt file
- Then commit your work locally:
git add 01Intro/homework.txt
git commit
- When you're done, commit your work up to the github server:
git push origin master

When doing homework, remember to commit locally often. I would recommend committing up to the github server whenever you finish a question or a part of a question. Pretend at any time your local machine may die; how much work are you willing to lose? (5 minutes' worth? 3 days' worth?)

When you're done with your homework, submit a Pull Request as per https://help.github.c...

If you have trouble and need help, ask away in this discussion thread! Or you can go to the MySQL Marinate Season 2 master discussion list

Did Nobody else get the error 11 when installing github? I have installed on a previous system and had no issues with it. Could anyone offer advice as for what to do?

Aziz, I did a quick google search for your error message, and it seems that some other folks have this problem too. There is a solution (maybe more than one, I only scanned the page) that seems to work at http://stackoverflow....

Hope that helps!

Aziz - I appreciate your dedication! If you want to also submit the homework, you can e-mail it to me since you're having a lot of problems with the technology. You will still be able to get badges if you want, which are public, so you can show that you have in fact completing the homework.

Hey Sheeri,

I'll email you the homework however I have completed some of the trouble shooting. I am installed the environment on 2 computers both of which are mac. On my laptop I was able to get past the error of signal 11 died. However now I am trying to successfully commit my changes to the branch and I seem to be missing the final step to allow my changes tot he repository. At the end of the process it asks me to enter a message but I don't know the command or process to finish the commit after entering my message. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Aziz

It says use git commit to conclude merge however there is nowhere for me to type it in after the # symbols.
