NiteSail Winnipesaukee Monday 7/29

Weather updated 9am Monday morning>>

Nite Conditions 'Data' Below. Summary~ For our SunSet & NightSail. Some chance of showers early in the day, all cleared by 2p w/negligible chance rain after 4p. The daytime south wind shifts & lifts to SW 5-8mph around 3pm. Breeze continues out of SW. (Previous forecast had it swinging to full west wind & had been W-7mph by 7pm.) Now Monday morning aviation reports show some softening on wind speed to W-6mph by 6pm, & 3-4mph by 8pm, continuing at 3-4mph thru rest of evening into 12m. May cause us to choose early return if wind drops too low too early. Conditions suggest that on this night, once dropped it will not be bouncing back. Other than this, the earlier reports all hold. Mostly clear w/some clouds thinning from 9-12m. Sky colors coming on around 6-7pm. Sky holding some after glow until almost 10p. Star show usually well filled out by 11p, perhaps not complete until 12:00m.

Participants All Confirmed on Schd~ At the slip at 4:00 to cast off soon after, with planned latest return 12m

Unfamiliar w/ the J22? No cushions, no head. This boat is designed to be responsive, a characteristic that also makes it good for teaching. Tho its not built for comfort, there's amble dry space to stow bag full of carry-on comforts, which you're encouraged to bring. I always say... It's really OK to eat greasy fried chicken on the boat, because you burn it right off with the high Activity Level of sailing in strong winds! (which might even be somewhat true, if one actually sailed... 0r had high wind : )

Great night! Started with a tremendous lightning storm, then a marvelous sunset, then blinded by a spotlight of stars in a blue-black sky : )
