How did you find us?

Did a Meet-Up search. Looking for crew who will be good company, & who are physically able to perform basic boating tasks, attentive & responsive when shown what to do.

What is your boating interest/experience/ownership details?

Started sailing in Michigan at 10, bought sailboat at 14. Raced for 20yrs. When competition was nolonger fun, I left it for a simpler & truer love. For me, sailing isn't about dominating the elements, crushing the competition or proving myself to anyone. It's an opportunity to connect, commune, listen & touch the beating heart of the universe. I love the harmony, respect & interplay with the natural world. Plus, sharing the experience with kindred souls. I love nite sailing, the mountain sunset, velvet feel of the nite wind, loons calling, midnight meteors & drifting under the Milkyway. Or crashing through white-cap spray, Oorah! Have knocked around in a full range of vessels, my own & OPB, inland & sea. But my soul-connection was with my J24 "Thundering Heart" on Winnipesaukee. Selling her was like amputating a body part. I still have phantom pain where her tiller should be. I'm now retired, sail weekdays/nights, when I often have Winni all to myself

In what ways do you picture yourself contributing to the activities of the Yacht Club?

I value camaraderie, mutual respect & generosity. I offer casual sailing but do not ferry passive guests or offer boat rides. I expect crew to co-own actively creating a successful day for all onboard. I'll familiarize you with boat & tasks as needed. Sailing has risks & physical demands change through the day. You need balance & agility to maneuver on a tossing deck & perform active duties, including basic strength for hauling sails. To be welcome onboard you need to demonstrate good judgment & be self responsible, ie: Know your limits. Be aware of weather. Come appropriately dressed, shod, packed & provisioned. Be thoughtful of crewmates. Be prepared to comfortably & safely manage changing conditions over several hours. Doing so lets everyone onboard relax & enjoy a carefree sail. Finally: Respect my time. Be reachable & responsive when we make plans. Read the posting & any instructions I send. Follow my safety instructions.

Do you have a current NH, ME, or MA Boater's License?

no, not required for operator of 22ft sailboat on inland waters

Sailing J22 on Winnipesaukee & looking for active crew. Fun boat. Gorgeous lake. Mellow Skipper. I sail during the week. Avid & experienced Night Sailor. Want to sail? First, read profile. Then if interested in crewing, email me> [masked]
