Gristle: From Factory Farms to Food Safety (Thinking Twice about the Meat We Eat)
by Moby

Musician and vegan activist Moby is now a book editor too. He has joined with Miyun Park of the Global Animal Partnership to jointly edited Gristle a new book of essays on food safety, factory farms, and veganism. Both Moby and Miyun Park will be at Powell's City of Books, 1005 West Burnside, at 4 pm Saturday March 27 to talk about the book For an interview by Grant Butler (one of PDX's newest vegans) of the Oregonian with Moby about the book, click here

An irresistible guide to the meat you eat by the world's most fun and famous vegan.

Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.'"Albert Einstein

Where's the beef? In the news, that's where. More than ever before, meat is making headlines. Contamination cases are on the rise, obesity has become pandemic, and industrial livestock farming is the cause of 20 percent of all greenhouse emissions. It's no wonder that vegetarianism has moved from the fringes to the mainstream as evidence accumulates in favor of the many benefits of meatlessness.

But 10 Excellent Reasons to Think Twice About Meat is not just for vegetarians, it's for everyone who wants to make informed choices about the food they consume. Multi-platinum musician Moby, one of the world's most famous vegans, brings together ten of the country's leading foodies, doctors, policy makers, business leaders, and activists to create a smart, concise guide to what you should know before you eat meat. Combining hard-hitting facts with a light touch, each chapter is studded with quotes from famous vegetarians, fun facts, and other irresistible food for thought.

For the millions of Americans who are questioning the meat in their diets, this is the fun, accessible guide to setting down the sirloin and reaching for the tofu.

I think I'll catch a bite to eat at Prasad (all vegan/some raw -- where Blossoming Lotus used to be) either before or after the event. If you want to join me let me know in the RSVP. As this will be a rather famous guy presenting the room will likely be hopping so plan on being at Powell's for the reading no later than 3:30pm.

Moby was quite funny (as was his co-editor Miyun) and entertaining. Moreover this little book is packed with interesting and important points, facts, issues and more to bolster your own veg journey as well as help you explain yourself and the cause better to others. Plus, the two M's are paying for the book touring themselves as all profits go to animal organizations to continue getting the word out for the animals, earth, our health and so much more. Makes great gifts! :)
