November's book for discussion is Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card.
Ender's Game (1985) is a military science fiction novel by American author Orson Scott Card. Set in Earth's future, the novel presents an imperilled mankind that has barely survived two conflicts with the Formics or "Buggers", an insectoid alien species. In preparation for an anticipated third invasion, an international fleet maintains a school to find and train future fleet commanders. The world's most talented children, including the novel's protagonist, Ender Wiggin, are taken at a very young age to a training center known as the Battle School. There, teachers train them in the arts of war through increasingly difficult games including ones undertaken in zero gravity in the Battle Room, where Ender's tactical genius is revealed.
As usual, if you need an epub version of the book, send me an email at mike at mike fenwick dot com and I'll be happy to help you out (this may be especially important this month as there are currently twice as many holds at the library as there are copies).
As always, be sure to check out the vegan book club website at http://veganbookclub.com to keep up with which books are upcoming, and to suggest and vote for which books you want to read next.
