NW Veg Presents: Eastside Portland potluck

  • Mar 16, 2014 · 5:00 PM
  • Friends Meeting Hall

Following a fun potluck with friends, join us in welcoming Dr. Craig McDougall. In his practice, Dr. McDougall places a strong emphasis on prevention and treating problems at their cause and chooses to reserve prescribing medications and surgeries as a last resort. He gained a love of helping others live better lives by watching his father, Dr. John McDougall in practice. He attended medical school at Ohio State University, where he met his wife and they both completed residency training at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Dr Craig McDougall will share with us his view on plant based eating, discuss the new wellness program he is leading at Kaiser called NWP Healthy Living Program and then open it up to your questions! So bring your inquiries on anything from the paleo diet to vitamins to deficiencies. The potluck will be at the Friends Meeting Hall, 4312 SE Stark, Portland, OR. Come to the potluck at 5:00, the presentation at 6:30, or both! Please bring a plant-based (no animal products, including honey) main dish, salad, or dessert; a card listing its ingredients; and plates and utensils for your use. Need plant-based ideas? Click here. If you come alone, figure the amount to serve 4–6 generously; increase the amount 4 servings for each additional person in your party/family. Northwest VEG potlucks are alcohol-free events, and we start eating at about 5:15. For more information email [masked]. A donation of $2–5 per person is suggested to help cover the cost of the room rental.

Was looking forward to this presentation, unfortunately there was no place to sit, so I had to return home. When is NW Veg going to move the SE potluck to a building that can accommodate the number of people who attend??????????? I'll refrain from rating this meetup, as I'm sure Dr. McDougall's presentation was not "awful," however I'm not sure at this moment whether I'll attend the SE potluck/presentation in the future.

Thank you for organizing it. It was very helpful.

Great turn out but not enough foods. Speaker was good but not correct on his view of sprouting or juicing. It's impossible to get all the nutrition you need just eating your veggies. Juicing greens is key to optimum health with a vegan mostly raw diet.

We'll be there for the talk but are missing the potluck.
