My favorite foods are generally spicy-lots of Indian spices; Thai; Asian fusion. I like to roast and grind my own curry spices. I also love to create many types of stir fry dishes with my own sauces. My husband and I have worked hard to reduce the oil and sodium in our diets so I like to experiment making my own sauces and dressings. I am the weird lady who pulls her own salad dressing out of her purse at a mainstream restaurant...not many places make salad dressings with flax seed oil in them.
I have been a vegetarian for over 25 years and for the last year adopted a plant based diet. My earlier food choices were heavily influenced by health goals and my philosophy against cruelty to animals, including factory farms and product testing. My plant based diet goals include eating organic, local, fresh foods as often as I can.
Hanging out with my husband and friends, cooking, creating and teaching mixed media art classes, walking the dog, hiking, swimming, checking out Portland events at the art museum and OMSI, visiting new restaurants-I am so glad I live in Portland!
Hi! I joined NW Veg in late 2010. I can't always make it to the potlucks or other events, so I am hoping to visit with members at the Happy Hour. : )
