Subject: [vegan-397] Veg Fest update!

We're looking forward to seeing you at Portland VegFest this coming Saturday and Sunday at the Oregon Convention Center! The Fest runs 10am-6pm and we've got an action-packed schedule lined up with nationally-renowned speakers, celeb chefs, film screenings, kid's and teen activities, and so much more.

The exhibitor hall is going to be packed with over 110 exhibitors! We'll have companies sampling hundreds of mouth-watering plant-based foods, restaurants selling vegan meals, and commercial exhibitors selling cruelty-free wares, as well as non-profits promoting their organizations.

We have a great lineup of speakers and chef demos for you to see. Come hear Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn Jr. on Preventing and Reversing Heart Disease. Dr. Esselstyn's work was cited by former President Bill Clinton as a reason why Clinton recently moved to a plant-based diet. Author and dietitian Virginia Messina (pictured) will present The Seven Habits of Healthy Vegans. Wildlife specialist George Wuerthner will talk on Sunday about the impact that animal agriculture is having on the public lands of our Western states. People attending George's talk can take home a free copy of a great book he edited and helped to write, documenting some pristine environments in our Western states, and those environments that have been heavily damaged by non-native livestock. We will have great food preparation demos by chefs such as raw chef Jenny Cornbleet, The Jazzy Vegetarian Laura Theodore, The Blissful Chef Christy Morgan, Portobello Vegan Trattoria's Aaron Adams, Forks Over Knives cookbook author Del Sroufe, and chefs Robin Asbell and Ellen Jaffe Jones. AND be sure to stop by the kids area for a chance to Taste and Rainbow as well as the Flesh is For Zombies photo booth in our teen corner! There is so much to do and see!

Plus, on Saturday we will be screening the powerful Forks Over Knives, "a film that can change your life" according to film critic Roger Ebert. On Sunday we will screen Veducated, an information-packed film that follows the lives of 3 meat and cheese-loving New Yorkers who agree to adopt a vegan diet for 6 weeks. Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons calls this movie "a funny, entertaining, and informative film - a must see!"

Help us make this year's VegFest as sustainable as possible! We encourage you to bring your own tote bag to hold all of your collected goodies! Or take home your very own VegFest tote bag for just $3!

Tickets are $6/day and kid's 10 and under are free. Tickets must be purchased at the Convention Center's Ticket Office (near the NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. entrance). Download a $1 coupon on our website.

Help us spread the word! Share a link to our webpage on Facebook and Twitter. Invite all of your friends and family to Portland VegFest. and together let's make this a healthier, more sustainable, and compassionate world! And, if you are not yet a member of Northwest VEG, join at VegFest and as a bonus, receive a gift bag stocked with more than $40 worth of vegan goodies.

See you there!
