Menu to come so check back for updates (but know it will be good!).About our chef
Natasia Rana (call her "Tashi") became introduced to the world of raw in 2002. After many years of enjoying vegetarian and vegan foods, she was inspired to eat only fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds for one month to see how she would feel. This motivation spontaneously led Tashi to embark upon a 4-week raw food cleansing program in Chicago through the Culturally Correct Center with her first teachers, Toosheyah and Jim Chapman.
In the spring of 2003 Tashi served as a "Kitchen Angel" (volunteer) at the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute
in Northern California working joyful, long hours in the kitchen alongside well-known chefs such as Elaina Love
and Matt Samuelson
. During that same spring, Tashi worked at Karyn's Inner Beauty Center
in Chicago and learned a great deal more about the healing benefits of raw foods as well as nourishing and rebuilding the physical body. It was during this time that she learned about Dr. Gabriel Cousens and the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center
. The Master's Program in Vegan/Live-food Nutrition being offered there sparked Tashi's spiritual curiosity and professional interests, and she became accepted in the fall of 2004. The distance learning program began with onsite orientation and a five-day Essene Living Way Level I workshop. Tashi realized upon her return from the desert that she desired a longer and deeper immersion into what she was only beginning to learn.
In June 2005, Tashi accepted a job at the Tree of Life and relocated to Arizona. For the next fourteen months, she worked at the front desk of the Tree's administrative building and was fortunate to have a lot of contact with Gabriel and his assistants. Much time was spent in spiritual community, meditating, doing yoga, studying, communing with the natural elements, and eating the best blessed organic raw vegan gourmet food on the planet!
Tashi completed the 27-day intensive portion of her Master's program in June 2006 and moved to Portland a couple months later. Despite a hiatus of several years, Tashi is completing her education and graduated in October 2009 with a Master of Arts Degree. Additionally, she will become ordained as an Essene Minister (in order to legally dispense food and nutritional information) and intends to become a Priestess after taking two additional workshops.
Tashi is involved with the Christ the Healer
raw spiritual community in the Portland metro area through regular attendance of Body Electronics
group healing sessions and occasional appearances at Sunday Supper. She volunteered for the community's local Raw and Living Spirit Retreat
in 2006 and 2007. Tashi represents the Portland Branch of the Tree of Life and is the Portland representative for the nationwide Ecopolitan
community. She has done raw food prep demonstrations, taught classes, and given lectures at People's Co-op
and the National College of Natural Medicine
. Tashi's vision with Field of Greens
is to continue expanding the possibilities and opportunities for healthy, balanced people in a nourished, supportive world.
