I like to group sing, and/or sing with a few others where I have the opportunity to sing harmony, although I can and do sing solo. This group seems large and varied enough to allow me to join in, enjoy get-togethers when time permits, and maybe help others have fun singing along.
I've been singing with OSQ (the Oratorio Society of Queens, 120 singers, I'm a soprano) for over 20 years now, and currently sing "the old songs" with the AARP Queens chorus (about 20 singers at nursing homes, rehab and senior centers in Queens), in addition to my church choir (English, Latin, Spanish, Tagalog) and karaoke several times a week at my local senior center (English and Chinese, via Pinyin romanization of lyrics). I like most music (classical to rock 'n' roll) with a melody and/or rhythm, but not jazz since I can't "sing along" with the singers. Drives me nuts! :-)
I've been thinking that I'd like to sing songs from maybe the 40's to 60's and put them on You Tube. And maybe put together a CD and write myself some new songs (using Finale, if I knew how). Mostly it would be for the fun of it (my own listening pleasure) and to distribute the CDs to family members, including great grands, to remember me by at some point.
After Susan Boyle won American Idol (or almost won, I didn't watch it), I sang Silent Night a capella into my camera as instructed and put it on You Tube in order to get a chance to sing a duet with her on an upcomng CD. I didn't win, and that's on You Tube somewhere. That's when I decided to maybe sing other songs and put them on You Tube, but I don't know about finding/adding music. (I got an IPod from a friend years ago, and still don't know how to put my music on to replace his!) I play guitar a little, but not good enough to accompany myself.

I'm a singer. I'll sing just about anything at the drop of a hat, a pin, or a hatpin! (Yes, I've been around long enough to remember Elvis, Peter Paul & Mary, Chet Atkins, and the Everly Brothers, too.)
