It's that time of the year again, when the students from the Super Stars Literacy program have their year-end celebration and field trip! And our help is needed at their celebration, which includes the graduation ceremony for the second graders.
This year, the field trip will have a carnival theme. Students and families will enjoy games and activities in a specially-made "boardwalk" area. VolunHeroes are needed to help with various activities for the kids, including the game booths and face painting!
We will be meeting in the Manzanita Picnic Area, which is at the very end of the recreation area once you enter. Click here for a map:
If you have never been to this area, or are not familiar with this huge park, you are likely to get lost trying to find it. Skyline is a twisty one-lane road, and there are tons of entrances to the park, but only one entrance to our meeting area. So if you do not want to risk getting lost, I will wait at a major intersection outside the park, and you can follow me in. Please mention it in your RSVP and I will provide details.
Super Stars Literacy helps children from low-income families to achieve their academic potential by running a stellar afterschool tutoring program. Children who are not reading at grade level by the end of the third grade are at serious risk of never graduating from high school. Therefore, SSL works with students in kindergarten through second grade to start their educations on the right track.
