Variety Children's Charity is the beneficiary of a large toy donation each year, and on this evening, we will be helping with the actual toy event.  It is a Toys for Tots fundraisers, with more toys than you could ever imagine!  And best of all, these toys ultimately wind up in the hands of children in need.

Here's your chance to help with some light labor.  We are expecting a donation of around 2,000 toys.  We will bag them at the event, load them on the truck for transport to the VCC office, then walk two blocks to the office to unload the toys.

If you want to start the holiday season right, this is it.  No better way to share the excitement of kids who may spend the holidays in shelters, hospitals, or in want and need, than by helping Variety make sure that these kids have a little something on a special day.

Dress Code:

  • Aim to be business casual (not fancy, but not rugged, either).
  • No jeans or sneakers, but dark blue or dark black jeans may be fine.
  • Avoid high heels.
  • Leave valuables at home.

Please be on time.  Admittance may be restricted if you are late.

As for carpooling - I again suggest public transportation, as parking is limited pretty much to the garages nearby. The Montgomery BART/MUNI station is a block away. Otherwise, use the 3rd & Folsom garage; it's a block away, and cheaper than most other downtown garages.

Anyone can attend the event, and it's free, with a donation of a new and unwrapped toy. But space is limited, so you have to RSVP now to be admitted: email [masked]

Everyone should meet in the lobby, where they'll be met by Yuan, and Bill Boone from Variety. Bill will have name tags for you

If you have any questions about the requirements for the event, please check with Yuan - I've sent him an update as of today. We are full for volunteers for this shift, and thank you all very much! If you find you cannot make it, please let either Yuan, or myself at[masked], know ASAP.

Please note this event takes place at the St. Regis Hotel, on 3rd Street, next door to the Museum of Modern Art. If you get to the corner of 3d and Mission, you'll see the hotel from the corner.

Feel free to contact me directly as well, if you have any further questions. We are looking for about 15-20 volunteers to help make this go fast and fun! [masked]
