This is a special Saturday event with Rebuilding Together, where we will be leading teams of teenagers to clean up numerous areas of North Oakland that are in much need of TLC. The work will include gardening, yardwork, debris removal, street cleanup, weeding, and more!
There will be many teenagers and students helping, and each of you will be a team leader to these kids, guiding them as they work, making sure they are doing things safely, and most importantly, serving as a good role model.
Go ahead and socialize with the kids while they work. Regale them with stories of your high school days; tell them about your line of work and your journey to where you are today; or just crack the whip while they toil away; whatever floats your boat!
Food and t-shirts are provided. There will be two shifts. Volunteer for one or both (I will be at both). This meetup is for the afternoon shift, from 12:30pm-5:00pm.
Parking will be at Berkley Maynard Academy, which is located at the corner of 63rd St. and San Pablo Ave. There are also AC Transit #72 bus line which goes nearby. After you park, walk over to the Rebuilding Together office, and look for me in a pink cycling cap. I may have a VolunHeroes banner/sign as well.
