Announcing a new Meetup for Bay Area VolunHeroes!

What: Berkeley - Mentor Homeless Children

When: Tuesday, August 24,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency
711 Harrison St.
Berkeley, CA 94710

Be a mentor and tutor for homeless children at the Children's Learning Center, run by Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency. Because this is still summer, we will primarily be playing with the children and developing relationships with them. Once the school semester starts in September, we will serve as tutors as well. We will be there from 6:00-8:00pm.

There is no regular commitment required. You can go as often or as little as your schedule allows. I will be going on a semi-regular basis and posting my schedule every time I go.

NOTE: If you decide to do this regularly, you will be required to fill out an application for a background check (the results they see are only "pass" or "fail," no other personal information). They also require a TB test be done. If you have had a test within the past year, you can bring that along. I also have a list of locations in Berkeley where you can get a test done for free.
