Do you want to feel more attractive, sexier in your everyday life?
Do you want to be more sensual when you’re dancing, whether by yourself, with another, or for your lover?
Then check out Voluptuous dance! Developed by M. Lisa Forner, Vdance is a philosophy and practice of movement, energy, and attitude that is about connecting with your sensuality through dance. It draws on the belly dance tradition and is informed by sacred sexuality, gender studies, shamanic spirituality, energy work, and dance performance/scholarship. It’s an opportunity to experience and explore yourself like you may never have before.
It is not:
A specific dance style of technique
A form that requires a pole, perfect body, or dance training
Only done by very curvy women.
A combination of elements that builds on your natural abilities, no matter what your age, shape, or experience.
A way to feel juicy from the inside out.
Concepts and techniques that can overlay and enhance any dance style.
An involvement of all five aspects: emotional, physical, mental, spiritual, and sexual.
Let’s celebrate dance as a form of expression (by yourself), connection (with another) or seduction (for your lover). Vdance promotes all these levels in a positive light, from the strength of self-empowerment and pleasure as our naturalness.
The term “voluptuous” has been used in dance scholarship to classify dances marked by beauty and sensuality, such as those in Polynesia, the Middle East (Oriental dance or belly dance), and India (Bharata Natyam,Odissi). It also means sensually pleasing or indulgence in pleasure. What a wonderful way to think about dance!
While “V” stands for voluptuous for the feminine, it can also denote “virile” for the masculine. Men: don’t be left out! You, too, can cultivate your sensuality and be confident grooving on the dance floor with a partner, or performing for your lover in your own bedroom.
Benefits of Vdance
·Feel more sensual, attractive in your everyday life.
·Express your feminine “temptress” or masculine “manly man” in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
Any advertising or promotion for other events through this meetup group must be approved by the organizer.
Any RSVP that is a "yes" for attendance at a "limited number" event and the person DOES NOT SHOW UP or DOES NOT LET ME KNOW they will not be attending: that person will be REMOVED from the meetup group. Too many people RSVP and then don't show. For limited attendance events, this means that someone else did not get to go. Let's be fair and responsible.
M. Lisa Forner, M.A. master dance teacher and performer, was a multifaceted professional in the Middle Eastern dance field (known as Michelle Forner) for more than a decade. In recent years she has studied sacred sexuality, Kundalini yoga, and gender differences/ relationships, which she folds into the philosophy and practice of Voluptuous dance. During her dance training, she studied with numerous Middle Eastern dance masters in the US and Egypt. She earned her master’s degree in Dance Ethnology from UCLA and self-published her thesis, The Transmission of Oriental Dance in the United States: From Raqs Sharqi to Belly Dance, which sold more than 300 copies internationally. M. Lisa taught literally hundreds of women the art of belly dance, coached professional performers, taught dance teachers, and performed more than 800 times at a variety of venues. In addition, she was a dance archivist at the Library of Congress, wrote and lectured about the dance, and served as an expert to media and others.
