PADI Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certified. Max depth of 160 feet. Most of my diving experience is in the Florida Keys and the Netherlands Antilles.
I have been volunteering with Vone Research since August 2011 and have provided assistance in a number of areas including the preparation, installation and monitoring of the photovoltaic LBTS Biorock Project. In the Netherlands Antilles, I was involved in International Coastal and Reef Cleanup, mangrove restoration and water quality and sea life monitoring in one of the largest lagoons in the Caribbean. I am avidly interested in underwater archeology and appreciate the logistics for the discovery, investigation and recovery of marine artifacts in such a dynamic environment.
15 to 20 hours per week. I can offer more time as dictated by the needs of the organization and current projects.
We need to strive to reduce anthropogenic damage to marine resources at local and global levels and do so in a coordinated manner. Issues of over-fishing, toxic discharge, industrial and urban run off, recreational misuse of reef locations, shoreline modification and dredging, aquatic invasive species, and coral disease must be continuously addressed and resolved. I am an advocate of coral reef mitigation and transplantation and Marine Protection Areas (MPAs). Enhancement of public knowledge of the importance of coral reefs and motivation of individuals to adopt reef-friendly practices such as responsible mooring, proper disposal and/or recycling of trash, reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizers, volunteer efforts in beach and reef cleanups, and conservation of water are also key.
I can offer Vone Research my passion for making a difference, diving skills, physical strength, a “can-do” attitude, interpersonal skills, and organizational abilities. I look forward to my continued involvement and "Diving to Make a Difference."
I was born and raised in South Florida and was taught by my parents at a very young age to enjoy yet to respect and protect the marine ecosystem and its oceanic biodiversity.
