MSCC is rich in history. It is a living memorial dedicated to the memory of 172 children and 3 adults who lost their lives in the Lakeview Elementary School Fire (later to be known as the Collinwood School Fire) that occurred on March 4, 1908. The parents of one of the children, named Laura Baldwin (who died in the fire), donated the land for a spiritualist church to be built. MSCC was built in 1927 as Sunflower New Thought Spiritualist Association Church and in 1973 changed it to its current name to honor its ties to the Collinwood School Fire.

This fundraiser is strictly a non-profit event and all donations will be given to the church to help maintain this living memorial.
