WAcreative February Meetup @ITCI

We're kicking off the new year by piggy-backing on the University of Chester's "Inside the Creative Industries" day. Aiming first for the North West Media Centre for the usual presentations, we'll then head over to the bar for drinks and informal catching-up.

Taking to the stage at this event will be;

Lorraine Hall - Lorraine is a local artist and graduate of Camberwell School of Art. She completed her Masters Degree in Digital Design at the University of Warwick and has had recent exhibitions in the north-west. She also has a vast and diverse range of experience from presenting interactive services for the BBC (Top of the Pops, Eastenders, CBBC) through to computer game design. Lorraine has her own studio in Warrington and is currently painting full-time and presenting a forthcoming documentary.

Graeme Goulden - we're cheating slightly here, but we'll be covering what WAcreative is all about, how we got started in the creative space, the vision for 2013 and a quick look back at the successes of the past 2 years.

We're looking forward to an even bigger and better 2013!

    Massive kudos to Ian and Dave for stepping in last night - with zero prep and just over an hours notice they did an amazing job. The debate, while admittedly crashing through the 20 min (yes, briefed) slot, was fascinating - even if I don't work in the radio space. And I certainly didn't have the heart to step in and bring that to a close when so many people were involved in the conversation. Where else do you get to hear this type of conversation in Warrington?

    It's just a shame that the topics of politics and technology play no part in the creative industries, and vice versa eh.......? ;)

    Well done to the two last minute speakers for stepping up. I wouldn't have thought a talk on radio was my thing, but really enjoyed it. Great to meet and network with like minded creative folk. Keep up the good work Graeme! Heck you can tell I've from a teaching background- this reads like a school report! Looking forward to the next meet.

    A bit of a disappointment to be honest..it held my attention for about 20mins...my guest's for about 5! Was not interested in the political and technical topic and it went on far too long considering it was known that some of us were not students and were there to primerarly network and learn about local creative businesses. Yes I realise the speakers were last minute but surely they were briefed on usual format?!

    Disappointing...turned into a student lecture..not much in the way of creative buzz..more of a political/technical vobe
