What's Cookin Chicago has a new monthly event to offer our members which allows us to give back to the community and focus on young aspiring chefs! We will be working with Ronald McDonald House each month to provide some kid-friendly events to their children and families (and your own children too!).
The Little Chefs: Cookie Craze event will be an opportunity to teach the children how to bake cookies from scratch! At the event, members will encourage the children to help prepare and mix the cookie doughs, place them on cookie sheets and bake. Of course, the best part is enjoying them together! The event will run from 12:00noon to 2:00pm.
Recipes for a few different kinds of cookies, baking sheets, parchment and all necessary ingredients/supplies will be provided, using the event fees collected. All you need to do is attend, gather the children at the Ronald McDonald House and work together to make the cookies!
The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc. (RMHC®) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. RMHC fulfills its mission by creating innovative, effective programs that address targeted needs, and by supporting these programs and other activities conducted by its local Chapters worldwide. RMHC also awards grants to other nonprofit childrens organizations that positively impact the health and well being of children around the world.
There are currently 2 RMHC locations in the city - Lincoln Park & Hyde Park. To service both locations, we will be alternating events between the two each month. To kick off our "Little Chef"' events, we are hosting our first event at the RMHC in Lincoln Park. These are also great events to include your own children - so please bring them as well!
