HIKE - GREEN RIVER GAMELANDS, PULLIUM CREEK TRAIL (mostly).

  • April 27, 2013 · 10:00 AM

Moderate level of difficulty. Approx 6.5 miles R.T. on this there & back trail with elevation gain of 900 ft. It's a beautiful trail that ends up at the Green River narrows, which has some rapids shooting thru large boulders. On the way there, there's a tedious creek crossing with step-stones, so wear good footwear & consider a hiking pole. Hopefully there will be some nice wildflowers along the way.  Meet at 10:00 in Asheville. Back around 5:45. NOTE: No doggies this trip. RSVP to hike leader Lisa McWherter at [masked] or[masked]-4994.

We (four of us) hiked on MST from Bent Creek River access parking lot. Many wildflowers presented themselves. Nice stretch of trail. Got out before it started raining!

we're still planning to do short hike because it's low chance for rain until 1:00 today. Maybe go out for lunch afterward. If you change your mind and want to come, just come to meeting place! no need to call or sign up!

According to the hourly weather, the chance for rain is below 15% until noon. I recommend meeting at 10 this a.m. and doing a stretch of Mountains to Sea trail, returning to trailhead around noon. (Then see if folks want to do lunch somewhere near by!) If you wish to cancel that's understandable too! (My source for hourly weather is at Weather.com -- http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/graph/Asheville+NC+28805:4:US

Reminder -- I'll check weather Fri night and again in a.m. to see if it's improved. I have found that the forecast often improves the morning of the hike. And of course I will be understanding if folks cancel at last minute because of weather concerns.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
