What we’re about
WNC Group of the Sierra Club is a regional group of the North Carolina Chapter of the Sierra Club.
We seek to explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth. We're now on meetup.com to reach out to you with opportunities to learn about and participate in our activities such as: environmental activism, hikes, political actions, and educational opportunities. Join us in helping to steward, protect and preserve the environment of the world we live in - the Sierra Club needs you.

See all- WNC Sierra Club 5/1: Explore the Beautiful Hiking Trails Surrounding AshevilleOLLI at UNC Asheville, Asheville, NC
Western North Carolina is a hiker’s paradise. With so much land protected by national and state forests and parks, those of us who live in the Asheville area have endless hiking opportunities.
Best of all, we can experience amazing views, waterfalls, wildflowers and quiet forest paths without having to travel very far.
Join us on May 1 to learn more about where to go and what you’ll see when you’re ready to head out and hike.
Marcia Bromberg is a retired university administrator who move to Asheville to enjoy the beautiful WNC mountains. When she’s not hiking (including leading hikes for the Carolina Mountain Club) she spends her time swimming, gardening and volunteering for various community organizations. She serves on the board of the Friends of the MST and MANNA Foodbank and is past president of the Carolina Mountain Club.
The WNC Sierra Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month in Room 102 at UNCA’s Reuter Center/OLLI on 300 Campus View Rd. and simultaneously on Zoom. Our programs are free and open to the public. Click here to join the Zoom meeting.
Can't make the meeting? Don't worry - recordings of the programs are posted on our website a week after the meeting. Our archive can be found here.
