Potluck and Music Jam at the Sapp's

The next gathering will be the music jam/idea share format and will be at the very cool home of David and Janice Sapp! It is located in the Kenilworth Apartments. These folks have a HUGE place that is ideal for this kind of thing and they also regularly have "house concerts" there. There will also be a potluck dinner starting at 6:30. Music jam (and also sharing of songwriting and ideas and input)! All levels of musicianship are invited and appreciated. This is a very supportive environment. Jam goes until midnight (often much later!). Hope you can make it! Please respond ASAP, thanks. Please see link for map to location. it is Unit 109 . You will need to call our host, David and Janice at[masked] to let you in building (it has security locked doors). See you there!

Great fun. Just wish I could have stayed later. It was awesome to make new friends and play with some great musicians.

Had a good time and will bring my complete Beatles book to the next jam. I do like this format better than the open mike. Thanks again to the Sapps for your hospitality!

Potluck was terrific, everyone got to play what they wanted, perhaps the best meet up to date.

Had a lot of fun and met many great musicians - looking forward to the next one.

A sudden turn of events here, and won't be able to make it tonight. When will the next one be?

Going to try to make it tonight. One question: Can I bring a guest? My wife said she would like to go and meet some new people.

I'm a singer who wants to learn to play. I'm also looking to network, find other musicians to play gigs with me around town. I sing a lot of different styles of music and want to have better piano skills, learn guitar and banjo. Is this the right group for me?

    April 12, 2013

    • Garry B.

Sure is! Great place to network :-)

I have been looking forward all month to the jam! Playing with other musicians is what I most want from this group. But I just got word that a very important performer will be singing with his chorus this Sat night. And I have been waiting all year to hear them. Th performer is my son, Jed, and I must be there. Speaking of performances, I will be playing a show tomorrow night at Good Stuff in downtown Marshall tomorrow, 4/19, 8-10 pm. Sorry to miss this jam and looking very forward to the next one. Ya'll have fun! Till next time! -Blessings, Dawn Carol

Sorry ya can't make it, but Your reason sounds very understandable! Is he doing a solo number? Good Stuff is a pretty cool place. Our band played there several times. See you next month!

Hi Everyone. This will be the first jam session for me. I was wondering how it works. Is it all acoustic, or are there amps, or can we bring an amp? And do you sign up like in an open mic or just join in at random? And last, any ideas of what to bring for the potluck dinner? Thanks!

    April 19, 2013

    • Garry B.

Hi, Jim! There will be a PA system there as well as at least one keyboard/guitar amp. Feel free to bring an amp. No sign-up. It is a free-form music jam that will probably break up into 3 or 4 groups. There will also be an "electronic room" for electro-space-syntheads like myself and a few others :-). Bring whatever food items inspire you!

No more Sapps until I get a $20 refund from last Saturday plus a written apology from the interloper who patronistically informed me that I didn't know what I was talking about concerning the email regarding the price of the event.

    Looking forward to it.

Thanks, Garry! It's good to know it's kid friendly but now that the date has changed to 4/20, my son should be with his dad, so should not be an issue after all. Look forward to seeing you and everyone again; had a blast last gathering; really looking forward to jamming and learning!

This sounds lovely. I look forward to it. What is a Jam Buster?

    March 18, 2013

Sometimes one slips up and plays too complicated of a song for others to easily follow=Jam buster (I have been guilty - its embarrassing (to me)) :)

Want to attend but have my son that night. Are kids permitted? He's not a little guy, he's 11, very sweet and polite and entertains himself well.
