Sprague Brook TUESDAY ride + pizza

Let's meet at the bathrooms at 6:15.  We will ride the trails for a 1-2 hr and then get a bite to eat at the pizza place down the road. All level riders welcomed. I am a slow rider who likes the technical trails.

DIRECTIONS:  Go up the Foote Road entrance off Rt 240.  Use the first entrance off Foote Road. Follow the 1st turn into parking lot. Pass the pavillion and you'll see the bathrooms.  We will gather there.

Thanks David. I'm glad you share your views whether it's @ seat position, restaurant choices or the best way to vault over the handlebars!

CAUTION: I discovered first hand that the x-c trail has a DITCH filled with ROCKS. Because I didn't anticipate it after descending the hill rapidly, I stopped suddenly and went over the handlebars. The best possible outcome only resulted in a painful belly flop and bruises. However, I frightened my friend who saw me sail over the handlebars. I was able to keep riding. We were a group of 5 riders of very different ability. One person brought their hybrid bike. The individual decided to make riding on a hybrid at Sprague a one-time experience although she enjoyed the x-country trails. She discovered all the other trails to be very challenging and risky. All of us attempted Skunk Hill-fun!. I look forward to improving on the technical trails. Thank you for all the effort exerted to make the trails so nice.

I enjoyed my first MTB experience in WNY with a great group of people. Hope to do it again soon.

The weather and trails should be nice. 3 days to dry up.

I changed the day of my event to Tuesday because the weather + conditions will better. Sunday looks rainy. If you've not biked Sprague Brook, many of the trails have a network of tree roots to cross making it a bumpy ride in sections. I'd never go in wet conditions.

I'm interested, but this would be my first mountain biking since moving to WNY and at this location. Is there a particular location at the park to meet? Is the time 3:30 or later?

      So the time is 5:15?

This event is Not recommended for some first time riders who want an easy ride. We may have some fast riders but I'm not one of them. We'll take the trails that have many tree roots , some bridges (all low to the ground but about ONE foot wide approximately). I am pretty cautious and use first gear on the hills.
