This is a group for those that would like to experience New Mexico and explore places less traveled - we will wander to areas all around this beautiful state. Our outings will be varied- hiking, camping, off road, places with incredible geology, archaeology, beautiful sunsets and sunrises; poker nights, movie nights, learn to dance - opportunities to meet really nice people.  The sky is the limit.

Our focus will be the journey, not the destination.

What we'll do (and a little of what to expect):

Ø Any off road explorations will be to places the Assistatnt Organizer feels comfortable leading a group to.

Exploratory hikes:

ØWe willwander. We willI explore. The nature of exploration is going places we have never been.

Ø Hazards. We’ll hike BLM lands, wildernesses. There could be snakes, bugs, it could rain, dirt and dust in your eyes, mass extinction. There could be snakes…please please wear good hiking boots, be prepared, be aware where you put your feet.

AND THE EXTRAS:

Ø Sunsets. Sunrises. Watching them out in the middle of nowhere. We will do this. Sometimes with a snik-snak table, sometimes more elaborate. Or sometimes we’ll end our event with get together at a local establishment.

Ø Camping. We love camping. In particular primitive camping. Any kind of camping.  We'll camp.

Ø I love rocks. I know people. I have connections. We’ll look for rocks. We might go to old claims and collect rocks. We’ll see fossils (and we’ll leave them where we find them). We’ll climb rocks. We’ll learn things about rocks. I’m annoying.

Ø I am fascinated with archeology. I’m a nerd too. I read everything. Count on trips to places like Chaco, Mesa Verde, or even places we will encounter on our explorations. And we treat all with respect. Not a shard leaves the area.

Ø Paleontology – I know cool places. Oh so many. I love New Mexico. We look, maybe touch, we’ll learn, and leave them be.

Ø Do you know of any really great places to go? We haven’t found them all (yet). LET US KNOW!!!

ØWe love suggestions – places to eat, maybe things to do. Explorers love to try new things.

Ø We are all of a variety of abilities and limitations. The Assistant Organizers will try to explain the explorations in such detail so that you can decide if you are able or it's beyond your capabitilies.
