Contrib2Core v2.0 [Developers]

Our second Contrib2Core meetup. 20 Seats. RSVP soon!

It's a #hackfest where developers will be coding solo or in small groups to fix WordPress bugs. Bring your own laptop!

Not a coder but want to contribute? You can: do Trac ticket triage, test new patches, offer user support on the forums, find bugs for the developers to work on. Bring your own laptop anyway!

Interested in what the format of this 2-hour session will be? Join the discussion on WPToronto.com: http://wptoronto.com/groups/organizing-contributing/forum/topic/contrib2core-v2-0-july-2014/

BRING YOUR DEVELOPMENT LAPTOP! You should have your local development server installed and configured, have a good IDE and have some VCS installed (Git or SVN).

If you don't know what the above means, maybe this session is not a good fit for you?

To get yourself prepared, please familiarize yourself with the core contributor's handbook: http://make.wordpress.org/core/...

Just finished the tutorial on how to configure VVV + XDebug on Netbeans (Web and PHPUnit). Feel free to change anything :)

I got vvv working on my linux machine now.
    I executed:
    vagrant destroy
vagrant up (waited for the paint to dry)

I still get these errors, but I think it won't affect the execution:

"Vagrant assumes that this means the command failed!

    chmod +x /tmp/vagrant-shell && /tmp/vagrant-shell

    Stdout from the command:

    Stderr from the command:

    stdin: is not a tty
start: Job is already running: mysql" I was having a dns problem as well. I couldn't access through vvv.dev probably because of DNS cache, so I tried to access using the VM ip (in my case[masked]) and it worked.

Only a few people came out this time (note: if you're not coming, please un-RSVP next time!) but it was extremely productive. Thanks Paul Bearne for helping us get VVV installed and for walking us through writing some unit tests on ticket #28762.

If you are interested in following the ticket, "Watch" this ticket: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/28762. If you're interested in helping to fix it, jump right in!

Stay tuned for 3.0 next month. Likely the size will be very limited (10 seats) and we'll have it at the Zeitguys office near Yonge and Bloor. Apologies to anyone who tried to find us but were unable to locate the meetup room or gain access.

some real forward momentum was gained even though the group size was very small.

Hello everyone, we're just over a week away from our next Contrib2Core session. If you're new to the format, please read the Handbook (http://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/), and get your laptop configured in advance. There were no comments on the format of the session http://wptoronto.com/groups/organizing-contributing/forum/topic/contrib2core-v2-0-july-2014/ so I'm assuming everyone's on board with what was proposed. If you have other ideas, post your thoughts there (or here I suppose).
