Toronto WordPress June Meetup - Plugins!

For our June meetup, we want to talk about WordPress plugins.

What are the essential plugins?

What are the best plugins for specific purposes?

What are your favourite plugins? Plugins to avoid?

So, let us know what your most favourite, least favourite, “can’t live without” plugins are. Name the plugin, mention what it’s purpose is, and any other details you want to add.

We'll work through different categories and, by the end of the day, we'll have a complete list of recommended WordPress plugins.

Are you a plugin developer? Tell us what you're working on!

Are you a WordPress administrator? Let us know what plugins make your day easier!

Our last few meetings have been at ING Direct "Network Orange" on Yonge St. downtown. Right now we are planning for WordCamp Toronto in September, so we will probably have one or two "planning" meetings before then. Not 100% where yet. Things will get back to normal in the fall. Excellent Meetup with a great discussion and lots of new plugins/ideas to explore. I would recommend doing this again but focusing on 2 or 3 areas specifically. It was a bit rushed at the end as we tried to cover off a few (too many?) areas.

I really enjoyed meeting those that I met. The atmosphere was very amicable. I came not knowing much about wordpress plugins but left knowing where to start if I chose to begin a wordpress.org site. I think it was great! I wish there was a page where we could see everyone's sites, I think that's one thing I would add. I don't know if it exists already. If it does could someone forward it to me? Thanks :)

Very good. Just what I was looking for - a high-level gallop through a useful set of solid basic plugins.

Was a good workshop but felt it wasn't very structured, or just didn't run in a structured way. I liked that people shared experiences of different plugins, but that part of the workshop didn't start until almost an hour into it- we talked for a long time about upcoming workshops, events, etc and although it was interesting, I think it would have been better to talk about the subject matter first, and bring up all those items for discussion later. The discussions on plugins were good- some useful, and some too fast. Since plugins can have strange names sometimes, for next time I would suggest writing them down or something, for everyone- or showing them on screen for a bit longer. The slides/notes at the end are very very useful so thank you for that!

Overall good day and thank you to the organizers, and the folks in the room for sharing!

Will there be anyone taking notes about this meetup? I'm unable to attend but the topic interests me. Would love to hear about what everyone thinks. Thanks!
