I'm an artist, curator, programmer, ailurophile, costumer, gardener and bookworm. In IT I've worked with a wild range of platforms and languages, from assembly language on mainframes to WordPress on my laptop.
All of the above - consultant with a lower-case "c".
A combination - I've built a couple of fairly simple websites for small business and community organizations, and a couple for myself.
I've built several simple websites in WP and love its elegance and flexibility. I can set up a website, install themes, widgets and plugins, create a child theme and change the css. Because I don't work with WP regularly, it still usually takes me several tries before I get the result I want, and if I play with the WP php code it takes more than several as it's easy to break things while changing something that looks unrelated - and my knowledge of php is minimal.
I hope to exchange knowledge learned from experience - slogging through written explanations and learning through trial and error gets the job done, but it's a pain. My experience with web-based applications is minimal; I'm hoping to get a better feel for things like WP's interface with social media, how to use RSS feeds, and generally what's out there. I'd also like to get an explanation of what Jetpack is/does.
My first impression is that they seem to be a nice bunch of people, knowledgeable, accessible and welcoming.
