One-Day Food Drive for our Veterans!

FOOD DRIVE!

We're hosting a food drive for the veterans in dire need of our help from the Veterans Outreach Center August 9 at the Brockport Walmart: 6265 Brockport Spencerport Rd, Brockport, NY 14420. ‎

We'll have a table at the front entrance to chat with patrons and hand them a flier listing the items the veterans need most. We hope they buy an item or two and donate them on their way out.

We've done this four other times, and they've all been fun, satisfying, and successful. We'll also be registering voters!

Feel free to wear a patriotic t-shirt but please leave the political gear at home. Helping our veterans is a non-partisan cause.

Please sign up for a two hour block between 8am and 4pm. Here is our current schedule:
8am - 10am: Patti, Tim, Kim (need 1-2 more)
10am - 12pm: Patti, Tim (need 3-4 more)
12pm - 2pm: Nancy, Helen, Jim D., Charlie A (need 2 more)
2pm - 4pm: none (need 4-6 volunteers)

Please also bring items  to donate from home: personal hygiene items, non-perishable food (soup, cereal, tuna, coffee, beef jerky, PB&J, nuts, etc.).

THANKS!

It was another wonderful day spent with like-minded Patriots who I call friends!!! And oh to see the wonderful generosity of the people just warms your heart. I was disappointed to see and hear the folks who did not want to participate - but those who did made it all up.

912ers don't know what they're missing by not participating in these food drives. It's energizing. The generosity and patriotism exhibited by so many customers is heart-warming. Definitely restores one's faith that there just might be light at the end of the dark tunnel in which our nation now finds itself.

Would be great to hear how much "loot' was collected and how it was rec'd and by whom. VA Canandaigua, Batavia; Vet Outreach Center?

Walmart in Brockport is to be commended.

Glad the food drive went well. Since registration forms were addressed for Monroe County (Avon is in Livingston Co), I was unable to do voter registration. Did pass out the Cuomo/Astorino info card, but that was more political than what WSR likes to do. Am I correct?

This is one of my favorite things to do! The Vets we saw at the center were speechless. They just couldn't take it all in. GREAT JOB everyone!

Sorry for the late notice, but I won't get to Walmart until about 1 pm tomorrow instead of noon. From what has been written here, it looks like that should work out alright for the number of volunteers needed at those times.
