11 Mile Hike - Martinez to Port Costa & Return...last chance?

Hike rating:  Moderate

Hiking pace: Relaxed

This hike will leave 5 minutes after the posted start for latecomers.

Rumor has it that Snake Road will be closing on April 1, 2013 and will not re-open for two years.  Hike will start at Nejedly Staging Area - there is quite a lot of up hill at the start of the hike and again towards the end.  The hike will also involve being on a paved road that is closed to traffic.  For about 3/4 of a mile the road is open to traffic and dogs will need to be on leash each way during this portion of the hike.  We can go get something to drink at the dive bar in Port Costa to rest a bit (I had iced tea last time...) - there is seating outdoors and the dogs are welcome.  We will turn around after about 20 minutes and head back.

Bring water and snacks/food for you and your dog.  Also bring bags for dog waste disposal...

Efforts will be made to keep the group together but each person will be responsible for himself - if you are unable to keep up with the group pace, the organizer may not be on the lookout for you. It is recommended that you obtain a map at the beginning of the hike in case the group is separated.
