Briones Regional Park, Briones Rd staging area - 6 miles

Hi all!  Looks like beautiful (well, cloudy but the dog perfect) weather this Saturday.  Time to hike.

For those unfamiliar with this staging area, the turn off of Alhambra Valley Rd onto Briones Rd is easy to miss.  It's a tiny road with a sign that says "Not a through street" and "Narrow windy road".  Follow that up to the top and park.  See the map link above.

The hike will have ponds and ground squirrels, forests and wide open hills.

Route: Old Briones Rd / go straight thru the gate to the first pond (Maricich Lagoon)/ Go on the left side of the pond to the 2nd pond and on to the gate on the left/ Follow that trail until it comes out onto a double wide dirt road/ Turn right up and through the gate/ Left on Briones Crest / Right on Valley/ Right up Old Briones Rd and all the way back to the staging area.  Very easy to lengthen and shorten the route.

Hike rating: Moderate

Hiking pace: Semi fast

I'll try to start out on time.

Efforts will be made to keep the group together, but you might want to pick up a map just in case.
