Hike Briones in honor of Juana Briones 5-7 miles

Not sure which route yet, but likely people will have option do shorter routes after we start together. Make sure you enter the park...I'll try to edit the mao pointer but right now shows at the park entrance. Best to meet in the larger parking lot which is through the  ranger station and keep going straight until the gate.

Hike rating: Moderate, some good workout hills

Hiking pace: Moderate

We will wait 10 minutes after the posted start for latecomers.

Efforts will be made to keep the group together. if you are unable to keep up with the group pace, the organizer will not be on the lookout for you. It is recommended that you obtain a map at the beginning of the hike in case the group is separated.

driving south on 101, I see the Bowers exit. But I don't
know how it got the name. Perhaps Juana rode her horse where the SLAC is now..

Juana Briones and her siblings had significant land grants in the Bay Area, early to mid 1800's. Hers was Palo Alto, and the California Historic Society is currently honoring her with an exhibit in SF. Look her up! Her sister married my great....great grandmother. not sure on number of "greats", lol So Great times X...blah blah :D

Running a little behind schedule I will catch up to you what trail are you going to take? Is this the staging area located at the top of the hill at the end of the road?

I'm sure the grounds will be more than a little wet tomorrow, so glad I decided to take the more open trail, so hopefully not too slippery and muddy :D

Could be very muddy and slippery, judging from today's hike at Crockett Hills (which has similar type soil).

I'd love to hike with my pup Sahara and some other folks and their dogs. He will stay on leash for now, but will love the company of others. Looking forward to meeting you all!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
