I have been working on a novel for middle grade/young adult readers, have ideas swirling for several others, and am churning the pages for an adult novel I started years ago. In addition, I'm a writer/contributor for The Rolesville Buzz monthly community newspaper (http://rolesvillebuzz.com/); I'm a youth books reviewer for Booklist magazine, a publication of the American Library Association (http://booklistonline.com/); I've been a contributor and book reviewer for India Currents magazine since 2002 (http://www.indiacurrents.com); and I've been a freelance writer/designer/editor since 1985 (including when I had "grounded" jobs). In the last few years, I've evaluated several novels (post-second draft) and been a beta reader for several others. I recently finished beta reading a third novel for a Chicago author who I reviewed in the mid-2000s.
Writing has been a part of me for as long as I can remember ... both for pleasure and work...and I've finally found myself in a position where I can gift myself time to write without relegating it to "wish list" status.
I can't stand it when I have to put my writing aside. Finding this group shortly after it started was one of the best things I've discovered about NC. Wake Writers is the perfect group for me right now: a WORKING group rather than a critique group.
Here's the link to a Raleigh Write to Publish meeting at Storyteller's in Wake Forest. Our own Debe will be participating! I RSVP'd on the Meetup link, but since I received the info originally in my Storyteller's email, I'm sure it's an open event. http://www.meetup.com/writers-500/events/105524612/?a=ea1_grp&rv=ea1 March 15, 2013 at Storyteller's Book Store in downtown Wake Forest, NC, from 6pm - until...? I will be there (since I live in Wake Forest and believe in supporting our group's members), so I hope to see you, too!
