The East County Windwalkers are sponsoring the Discovering Rockwood Walk Event. As described on the AVA site: The walk consists of 2 5K loops rated 1-A going through the neighborhoods and parks of the Rockwood area. Loop 1 will take you through Pat Pfeier Park (which was designed by our member Ric Catron),and through Nadaka Nature Park. You will have difficulty with wheelchairs and strollers in Nadaka Park. Loop 2 will take you through Vance Park and Rockwood Central Park. Both of these parks have Disc Golf courses.
Carpools will leave the Willamalane Adult Activities Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m and return there about 5:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $10 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant to have lunch together. However, meal arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
Those traveling to Portland on their own can meet the group between 10:15 and 10:30 a.m. at the start point, the SnowCap Community Charities at 17805 SE Stark Street in east Portland. Or walk starting anytime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The Discovering Rockwood Walk event provides a 5- or 10-kilometer (3.1 or 6.2 mile) option (2 loops of 5 km); both rated easy (1A). The difficulty for strollers is 'medium' and for wheelchairs is 'hard.' Pets are allowed, and restrooms are available.
