Valley Forge - General Washington's Headquarters

We will be walking 3-4 miles over dirt paths.   This walk takes us through the woods and along the river.   In the past, it has taken a little over an hour.

Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Dress appropriately for weather conditions.

As always...please remember to bring water, snacks and other essential items you may need.

You may also want to consider bringing a hat, first aid kit, walking stick(s), field guides, binoculars, and a camera.

Note: Please remember pooh bags and that your dog must be on a leash that is no more than 10 feet long.

Arrival and Start Times:  We will start hiking promptly at 2:00pm.

Facilities: There are bathrooms and water fountains at The Washington's Headquarters Parking Area and on the Mt Joy Trail

There was no parking at the Headquarters. So the walk was moved to a different location.

Bummer, I must have just missed you. I went to the visitor's center first, then found my way to Washington's HQ. Maybe next time.

Apologies to anyone who showed up today and were unable to find us. The parking lot was full, so we tried to talk to everyone as they showed up to let them know we moved the start of the walk up to the parking lot near the church and the cabin gift shop.

No problem with paved or dirt paths through the woods, but the tiny stones on most of the Valley Forge path by the river are tough on my dog's paws. Rachel (the bulldog) & I will see you on the next outing without the little stones. We really enjoy this group and are thankful that you like to give everybody a change of scenery!
