WALK - Dunsfold Red Arrows Display 8 miles (picnic)

An 8 mile walk with a picnic lunch and a 2pm pub stop ( for drinks only ) with classic aircraft flying overhead throughout .

Last year we got a free days air display - this year not only have we got the Red Arrows , Vulcan bomber and Lancaster , but a display by the Eurofighter Typhoon ( the loudest plane ever ) .

Make sure you bring a picnic lunch , as we will be watching the display in a field .

We will have a break halfway on the green outside the Sun Inn at Dunsfold where we can have a drink , but it will be too busy to eat there .

£2 each please .

In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Harry Hawker’s 1913 attempt in the 1913 Circuit of Britain Race a Catalina waterplane/flyingboat G-PBYA will fly the route starting Wednesday 21st Aug at Duxford and finishing on Sunday 25th Aug also at Duxford. It is scheduled to arrive back at Duxford at 16:34.
It also flies over Brooklands Museum and various other significant aero-historic places on its route. See http://projecthawker2013.com/

thanks gavin!! i checked route planner and it says there is a bus......is that true??

    August 2, 2013

  • Sylvie

Ok thanks gavin see you then

    August 1, 2013

  • Gavin

Sylvie , you get fleeting glimpses of some of the aircraft from the leisure centre but it's a bit to far away to be a good viewing spot . The Sun Inn is on the runway flight path so good for planes landing or taking off but not the not full display . We will be stopping on the walk twice in each direction at good viewing points and again for drinks at the Sun Inn halfway through .

There are no train staions nearby. So this trip will not be convienient for me

    July 30, 2013

  • Gavin

Nick I'm afraid this area is sadly lacking in railway stations . Probably the best bet is to get the train to Guildford ( direct line from London ) then a taxi to Cranleigh Leisure Centre ( about 8 miles ) . I'm sure somebody ( maybe even me ) could drop you back at Guildford afterwards .
