Walk - Capel & Ockley 7 miles & pub lunch

Meet opposite St John the Baptist Church in the centre of Capel . Creative parking may be required as Capel doesn't have a car park , use side streets . I think the village hall car park is ok to use .

The walk features an old windmill and undulating countryside .

We get to see Katie Price ( Jordan ) & Peter Andres old house .

We stop for a pub lunch at the Cricketers in Ockley ( and the Inn on the Green if we have lots of attendees ) and end up walking through the church graveyard to finish .

The walk is likely to be a bit muddy under foot as we've had so much rain , so proper walking boots are required .

There is another pub at the end if you fancy tea , coffee or another drink.

£2 each in the WiSy pot please .

Just when you thought it wasn't possible to get any wetter up came a 6 inch deep quagmire to drown your boots and socks . A strangely enjoyable walk with 18 hardy souls . The pub with it's open log fires and steaming home cooked food made seemed all the more welcome .

Thank you Gavin and nice to meet everyone today. And yes the roast was definitely worth the early exit! Hope to see you all again sometime.

Thanks to Gavin and everyone else who were brave enough to face the rain and mud, I thoroughly enjoyed today. For those guys who left early, I hope your roast included parsnips and was worth it ;). Ali

Sounds like a lovely walk. Is there anyone who might be able to give me a lift from London? I am based in Streatham but could get to a meeting point around south London. Don't mind contributing to petrol costs.

Hi All , the pub is the Cricketers in Ockley who are OK with dogs except in the restaurant , but if we get too many attendees we will have to split between two pubs , the other being the 'Inn on the Green' also at Ockley . We should finish the walk about 3-30pm but there is another pub at the end where we can have tea coffee or more drinks if we feel like it .

Hi Gavin, when do you anticipate the walk will finish?

    January 25, 2014

  • Gavin

I'm not able to check out which pub ( as there are three of them in Ockley ) will be most suitable for our large group until the day before the walk . I'm sure one of them will be dog friendly .

Hi All , there are three pubs in Okley so we may have to split between two of them if we get big numbers . It will be muddy and wet under foot (as we've had so much rain) , so walking boots essential .

  • Sue

Yes would be good to know name of pub as I would also like to bring my dog.

Hi Gavin How muddy is the walk likely to be as I don't have proper walking boots.

    January 21, 2014

  • Gavin

I think the pub should be Ok with dogs as it's a country pub .
