"Girl Rising" Movie with coffee or beer following

Come get inspired!  "Girl Rising" spotlights the stories of nine unforgettable girls born into unforgiving circumstances. Girls like Sokha, an orphan who rises from a life in the garbage dump in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to become a star student and an accomplished dancer; Suma, who writes songs that help her endure forced servitude in Nepal and today crusades to free others; and Ruksana, an Indian “pavement-dweller” whose father sacrifices his own basic needs for his daughter’s dreams.


  The movie is presented by Menlo Park Presbyterian Church as part of its focus on education this year.  "Girl Rising," directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins,tells the stories of nine extraordinary girls and showcases the strength of the human spirit and the power of girls education to change the world


Rated PG-13. 104 minutes (full-length version will be shown).
