What: Labor Day Staycation: Evening Hike and Star Party -- Joseph Grant Park

When: Saturday, September 4,[masked]:15 PM

Where: Joseph D. Grant County Park

Mount Hamilton, CA 95140

Meet at the parking lot for Grant Lake to start our hike at 6:15 around the lake and a few surrounding small hills. You may want a hat and sunscreen for this portion of the event.

We will follow up with a walk or a drive to the portion of Grant Park where The San Jose Astronomical Society will be holding its monthly star-gazing party. This portion of the event ends by 11:00 p.m. You may return to your car at any time you like. Click here for more info and directions, and protocol for star-gazing events. This seems like a good spot to eat supper, before we reach the observatory itself, and perhaps an appropriate event for hot chocolate or coffee in a thermos.

Ron and Kathleen will be driving from Sunnyvale at 5:00 and can take riders from there, or pick up riders at the Mexican American Heritage Plaza on Alum Rock.

Please note that the parking lot for Grant Lake is slightly PAST the turnoff to the main entrance to the park, on the other side of Mt. Hamilton Road.
