Dear Delightful Walkers:
Assistant organizers needed!
Over the last few years, it has been more fun than a barrel of monkeys
organizing activities that took us to all sorts of less-toured spots
around Santa Clara Valley, taking old-timers to places they’d never
been before, and giving newbies a different view of Silicon Valley.
At the time I was hosting a lot of travelers, and was “on a mission”
to show that our Valley is worth visiting, and to show that “The City”
doesn’t necessarily have to mean San Francisco!
We’ve traipsed the hills of Mount Madonna, the Craftsman Homes trail
in Gilroy, up to Redwood City’s old courthouse museum, and every place
in between. We’ve striven to create events that were both
educational and aerobic. Even our wedding was a “Meetup” in an
old-English-style garden park in Sunnyvale. It took a few years, but
Fearless Leaderess has now “been there and done [almost all of] that.”
We’re encouraging other(s) to take up the role of Assistant
Organizers so new folks can get to know “The Valley of Heart’s
Delight.” A look our past events would give you most of the
information and suggestions you need. Just copy and paste. New or
old member, have some fun and get informed by helping out. Please
email if you’re interested.
Ron and I will be out of town until the end of March, and then hope to
get into our spring and summer ritual of three to four hikes a week.
Our weekend events will include more of San Francisco and Marin County
as we move on to discover what for us is still untrekked territory,
and to seek cooler climes in summer temperatures.
For events planned by Ron or me, PLEASE do not sign up unless you
truly plan to SHOW up except in case of illness or family emergency.
We need to be able to count on how many people there will be to split
the ever-rising cost of gas, prepaid meals, etc. When we convince
parks to let us sign up a group for one of their docent-led hikes and
then members don’t show, it is embarrassing, and it may impact our
ability to get spots for these hikes in the future.
We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the trails!
