Free stuff, info on "note" postings, Cool-sounding free event

Free Stuff: $10 dining certificates valid at a number of downtown San Jose restaurants: Agenda, Bella Mia, E&O Trading Company, Eulipia, Fahrenheit, Gordon Biersch, Hawgs, Morton's, Paolo's, Paragon, Scott's. Expiration date: August 31st. If you'll use them, send me a snail mail address and they're yours.

"NOTE" on calendar. From time to time you'll see events on the calendar that are in kind of a brown color and don't have a place for you to RSVP. These are "notes", different from "events." They're activities sponsored by other entities (not other Meetups) that the organizers may not be attending, but which seem quite possibly of interest to others. Just show up or follow whatever directions the note may have about contacting the event's sponsor.

MESSAGE BOARD USE: Recently, a member asked me to allow her to send out an email to the entire group seeking a travel companion to reduce costs for a cruise. That didn't feel quite like an appropriate use of our mailing list. However, there ARE a lot of awfully nice folks in this group and maybe there are others who'd like to know about such possibilities. I might even be looking for travel buddies/cost sharers myself before long. Please feel free to post such an interest on the MESSAGE BOARD -- and if you have such an interest, check there from time to time. We might as well be walking and hiking through other delightful locations together.

Free Event at Baylands Park (get some walking exercise while you're there!) Our member Amy forwarded info about a picnic which sounds great.
Amy wrote, "Don't know if you have been to Linux's picnic in the past... there's free t-shirts, plenty of free good food and drinks that all you can eat sponsored by the big name high tech company like Google, Oracle, etc. Feel free to invite your friends and family to share the fun and social !"

Here's the link to rsvp:
