Canine Companions for Independence will host emBARKadero on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 8AM to 2PM in San Diego’s Embarcadero Marina Park South (200 Marina Park Way).
The event will begin with a 4-Legged 4K run/walk/roll along the scenic San Diego Bay followed by a dog festival with dozens of vendors, fun activities for two and four-legged family members and awe-inspiring canine demonstrations. All proceeds from emBARKadero will benefit Canine Companions for Independence, the Oceanside non-profit organization that provides assistance dogs and ongoing support to people with disabilities at no cost to the recipients. EmBARKadero’s non-timed 4-Legged 4K will begin at 8AM. Walkers, runners, wheelchair users and their dogs will all enjoy the bayfront, 2.5 mile, wheelchair accessible route. Participants wlll receive a sWAG goodie bag, event bandanna and a race bib. The bib will be personalized with the participant’s name and dog’s name with registration by March 1. People in training to run a 5K will enjoy this opportunity to test their skills at a slightly shorter distance. Registration is $25 for adults, $10 for kids 12 and under and $55 for a family Woof Pack. Participants can raise additional funds for Canine Companions for the opportunity to earn extra prizes.
The dog festival begins at 9AM with free entry for the public. Attendees can shop ‘til they drop at vendor booths featuring all types of dog-related products and services, dogs can try their skills on the fun agility course and take a doga yoga class, kids can play games and enjoy crafts in the Kid’s Zone, and everyone will enjoy the great food booths and spectacular views! Watch inspiring demonstrations by Canine Companions assistance dogs and puppies in program. Then, catch a glimpse of the Ballistic Racers Flyball Team as they speed through the course.
