Enjoy the spring with a 10 mile walk, taking in Hampshire farmlands, woodlands, green meadows and spring flowers. Along the way we will see Theddon Grange and Bentworth hall, both historic houses.

Starting in Chawton Park Wood car park we will stop for  lunch at a pub in the Village of Bentworth, winner of the Hampshire village of the year award in 2013! Also home of one of the gold post boxes from the 2012 Olympics honouring Peter Charles the show jumping Gold medallist.

Getting there:

By car:

Just off A31

Chawton Park Wood car park,
Four Marks, near Alton,
Hampshire

Chawton Park Wood car park is in Four Marks, the nearest postcode is GU34 5ED grid ref 672362.

Be careful as there is a Chawton Park Wood Road nearer to Alton, this is not where the car park is.

From the A3, along the A31 towards Winchester. The dual carriageway ends when you reach the village of Four Marks, about half mile on just past a new housing estate is a turning right signed "Medstead 1 1/2 (1.5), turn right here then another half mile on, the road bends sharp left with a bit of green on the right, turn right just at the green (in effect straight on as the road bends left). the second entrance on right is the car park.  There is plenty of parking here.  Just reverse these directions if like myself you are coming on A31 from Winchester.

By Train:

Nearest station is Alton with direct trains from London Waterloo.
Then Bus 28 to Four Marks/Medstead area where the starting point car park is.  There may be another attendee coming along A31 from that way and we can arrange a pick up from Alton station, check this out nearer to the date.

What you need to bring/wear:

Suitable walking boots and waterproof layers including a coat. Warm clothing suitable for the temperatures at this time of year. It is your responsibility to ensure you are suitably kitted out. Water, money for lunch.

Cost: meet up fee of £4 each, payable on the day.

Safety, terms and conditions: I am an experienced walker and a qualified outdoor first aider. First aid kits are carried on all walks. It is fully your responsibility to ensure you are well equipped and medically fit for this walk. A Gold post box, beautiful blue bells, wind swept fields and a good soaking at the end. A perfect day out. I Hope You like the photos. Well done Katie

Very enjoyable day and great exercise despite getting soaked near the end(unlucky!) and the lunch pub being a tad disappointing. However, it was much sunnier most of the time than expected and the company more than made up for the less than perfect parts. I had a good time. Thank you Katie

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
