Alright... a legitimate suggestion for next meetup: Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt (autobiography). I felt like I was burdened by reading most any book when I was little (especially the education system's taskings), but I could not put this book down. It's a bit long, but definitely worth a read.

Also, I had fun at this meetup! Good location, Sam :-)

I actually never got around to reading this book by the time I found this group. I'll definitely make it for the next one though.

I am sorry, I know I was one of the people that suggested the place, but since I do that exercise class on Wednesdays, I just can't do both. Hope I can make next month.

I won't be able to make it this month :( I am in the process of ending my current job to start a new position somewhere else and have a lot of stuff to finish up/loose ends to tie. See you all in November though! :)

How about reading just the third book in "The Hunger Games"? Mostly because I didn't get a chance to finish it yet :-( (Half serious)

How about the newest Jodi Picoult book, "The Storyteller"? Or "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed?!?

    October 18, 2013

  • Sunnie

I'd like to nominate Jhumpa Lahiri's new book The Lowlands for November's book club!

PS - if you have any book ideas for next month's book club meeting, or an idea of where we should meet, be sure to let me know so I can include it in the survey!

Hey all! I hope you're enjoying the book - I'm almost done and can't wait to see how it all comes together!! Just wanted to remind you all that Half Moon (where we'll be meeting) is BYOB, so if you are in the mood for a little imbibery be sure to bring something fun! I'll probably bring a bottle of wine, which I'm happy to share. Can't wait to see you all next week - the meetups have all been so fun so far! I know there are a few new members, and I hope you all join even if you haven't had the chance to finish the book. We're a pretty cool crowd ;)

I wish there was a maybe button. I take a exercise class on Wednesday night and while I will make it there in time, I won't look pretty...at. all.

    September 15, 2013

    • Samantha

Well you don't have to look pretty for us! You can be my reminder that I have to get back to the gym, haha

      September 16, 2013

  • Sunnie

I wish I could make it. I have another event to go to that night, but I'll jump back in next month!

    September 15, 2013

    • Samantha

Aw, we'll miss you!! Maybe next month you could host at the library?

      September 16, 2013

  • Christina

May I suggest a location? In the center of Wallingford is the Half Moon Cafe. It has coffee, is BYOB and could be a little quieter for a discussion. Just an idea. I don't know if we would be able to call ahead to reserve tables.

    September 13, 2013

    • Samantha

I was actually thinking the exact same thing!! They have great food, too, and you pay at the counter so we wouldn't have to worry about splitting a huge bill. Great idea :)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
